World we know ------ Yan Chyuan Kai

The world we know ..

The blandishment about how i love ARCHITECTURE , or how i came to like ARCHITECTURE before walking down this road , I do really want to skip this sweet-talk . Genuinely walking down with messed direction . Chose to walk down this path without knowing any of its antiquity , its history . Landed in an unfamiliar land , exploring the unknown .

Architecture , all i know of it growing up is just , building , buildings and just buildings , always perceive architecture as a shallow term. Just like everyone else, it was common to know the term is about constructing and site visits and confirming plans. But my curiosity grew along with the influence of modern era . I begin to curious on , how is that , architecture is changing along with  the age of era . How is that , architecture is so related to our life ?

This is already 4th semester I studied architecture ,  I discovered the hidden , unsung story of architecture . The dim-side where people would not pay attention to . The real architecture , only can be perceived if you are actually studying architecture study , which also means the world does not know much of it . As we all , i refer to all architecture students out there , believe that what sort ever we are studying right now are way different than what we expected , or believe what is architecture all about . During the journey of finishing architecture , we come across many of the student who actually give up in the mid-way , too many of them . Wasting the value of time , money and effort and most importantly the blood , sweat and tears of the hard work come to an end .

I believe what is absence on this matter is that , the exposure of architecture towards the public where people only focus only the elegance of the building , but they don't really talk what is the sense behind it . I believe people only take it for granted , for the sake of refinement of outer appearance . The publicity of architecture is good , but not as appropriate as it has to be to my eye .

Architecture , as i mentioned earlier is very diverse and vast world . Using just one sentence definitely is not enough to explain architecture , it requires more understanding , more deep figuration . By all means to all related party , i wish the way of architecture has been publicize or expose should be more to its hidden meaning , rather than the surface of the iceberg , which actually will attract talented people into this and disinterested people away . I reckon many talented people out there , who actually don't know architecture can be this deep , missing the puzzles that may actually able to contribute to the society or the life of human .

Venice , Italy
Another major wishes that i wish to learn is that , the geographical part of architecture . The part where you will never be taught in architecture school . I believe we learned soils , of how it affect the building , what building is suitable , what soil is weak , and sort of the related . But , we never taught the location of the soil , precisely meaning that in which part of the world can we see these soils . In geographical term , I able to perceive that many things are not just available in every country . Just as the same as trees avaibility , we may find oak tree in Europe continent , but what about Asian countries ? How can we build a tower in Venice ( a floating city ) in Europe ? What I am trying to pinpoint is that , we have not taught of avaibility of natural resources or the geography in architecture , which it can contribute a lot of help into the design , when we know , using our motherland as an example , rubber tree rich and easily found in Johor states, Topography in Pahang states is towards mountainous , Terengganu states filled with palm trees . For that matter , we know those because we had lived here for decades but what if we were to work overseas ? I believe geographical part of architecture is as important that I wish i could have learned during this 4 semester of my architecture studies which will prepare me for future actual works .
