As every building has their own story behind. Sunny Hill has it too. It is a concrete and flat building which is normal and bored. But Kengo Kuma designed a specify timber structure for the building to merge into the surrounding yet pleasing. From the past, Japanese always like to apply timber which shows simplicity and precision.
The timber structure which surrounding the building is playing the role of ornament as it is covering something normal and to attract passers-by attentions which are really successful. From the timber design, it expresses the atmosphere of simple and nature as the material is timbers and the way it is constructed which remind us of the traditional Japan. The cost for the ornament is acceptable due to the timber material can be found in Japan and they using the traditional construction method. It did consider about the budget. From the site, the greenery juxtaposition the building has shown a strong contrast and gives a peaceful and totality feeling as the repetition of the timber structure. It gives the pleasure of looking at it to surrounding as the color is nature and calm. But the arrangement of the structure does surprise and avoid the boring.
