For Adolf Loos, the major difference opinion toward ornament is he can only accept the ornament as the pleasure for the shoemaker even thought he willing to pay much for a plain design for the shoes. From this point, he is a man who will accept the ornament as for the designer pleasure yet he disagrees it. Loos won't consider the purpose of the ornament. Instead of those aesthetic purposes, he will more consider the time to produce an artwork and the cost. as the more detail, the work for ornament, the time it needs is more and the cost for an ornament and without ornament is same. and he is a person enjoy the pleasure of quality instead of the view.

In Reyner Banham's article "Ornament and crime" he was against Loos for not giving time to the reader to pick an argument for the article. We can see that Banham is giving a chance for the ornament as it will not bumble and destroy the design. For example, the ornament that is seen on the cathedral expresses glory and holy.

The last article "ornament is no crime" by Joseph Rykwert stated that ornament plays a role to cover the flaws of the structure. Even so, for the rest of the structure that is unharmed, it stand as ornament itself as a structure's detail that show beauty in silence.

The primary commonality between them is ornament is for an aesthetic purpose which contains culture from the past which Loos wants to avoid because he mentioned that a modernist man shall be free from extravagent ornament. Moreover, the requirement of ornament has to depend on its meaning and economic.
